STANCE ANALYSER

Have you ever wondered how well your dog is standing?

Do you want peace of mind and confidence that your dog is not shifting their weight from one limb to another?

Do you think your dog is standing with equal weight distribution?

The stance analyser can give us an early indication for subtle changes in your dogs posture. This helps to understand if your dog may or may not be compensating; identifying any very early stages of pain and discomfort, giving you the chance to get ahead of the game in order to help your dog.

Dogs are 60% weight bearing on their front limbs and 40% weight bearing on their hind limbs. Therefore, on the stance analyser the dog should be 30% weight bearing through each forelimb and 20% weight bearing through each hind limb. Anything outside of these ranges will be discussed on how your dog is potentially weight shifting.

We firstly get your dog acclimatised to the stance analyser by allowing them to sniff and explore the mat, whilst setting off the beeping noise, allowing them to respond and get used to the noise. Once they are happy with the equipment we get your dog to stand still on the mat with each leg in the different quarters. We keep your dog still by either command or with treats, which ever they are used too. The whole process of using the stance analyser can take less than five minutes.

The stance analyser is included in every initial client physiotherapy assessment, this can be seen on the pricing page. For the stance analyser to be used again during a physiotherapy programme is an extra £10. If you wish to just use the stance analyser this is costed at £20. Extra may be charged for travelling and will be discussed at time of booking. Alternatively, this service is offered where Laura practices at Foxcotte Vets in Whitchurch and Ludgershall.
